06 - 1/2 cup boiling water
07 - 1 cup sweetened condensed milk

08 - 1 (3 oz) box blue raspberry flavored gelatin
09 - 1 cup boiling water
10 - 1/2 cup cold water

→ Optional Garnish

11 - Whipped cream
12 - Fresh blueberries and strawberries

# Method:

01 - Arrange 8 clear cups with 6-8 oz capacity on a clean work surface for layering.
02 - Dissolve red gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stirring constantly. Add 1/2 cup cold water and stir to combine. Divide evenly between cups using approximately 2 tablespoons per cup. Place cups in refrigerator at a slight angle using a muffin tin for support. Chill for 45-60 minutes until completely set.
03 - Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water in a clean bowl and let bloom for 5 minutes. Pour 1/2 cup boiling water over gelatin, stirring until fully dissolved. Stir in sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature before proceeding.
04 - Once red layer is completely set, carefully pour white layer mixture over red layer using approximately 2 tablespoons per cup. Position cups upright and refrigerate for 45-60 minutes until firm to the touch.
05 - Dissolve blue gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stirring continuously. Add 1/2 cup cold water and stir well. Cool mixture to room temperature before layering.
06 - Once white layer is firmly set, slowly pour blue gelatin mixture over white layer using approximately 2 tablespoons per cup. Position cups upright and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until completely firm.
07 - Remove cups from refrigeration and top each with whipped cream and assorted fresh berries if desired. Serve immediately.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • They look like edible stained glass, and people always ask how you made something so picture-perfect.
  • The whole process is actually forgiving—each layer waits for you, so there's no rush or stress.
  • Kids can help with the pouring (well, the grown-up can guide them), and they become little food scientists watching colors set.
02 -
  • Never pour a warm or even room-temperature layer over a barely-set layer below it—the heat will melt through and blur your stripes into a sad gradient mess.
  • The angled cup trick in the muffin tin is worth every awkward moment; it prevents layers from sliding sideways and ruining the clean stripe effect.
03 -
  • Always cool your Jello mixture to room temperature before pouring it onto a lower layer—warm liquid will melt through and blur your stripes into sadness.
  • Clear cups are non-negotiable if you want the visual impact; ceramic or opaque cups completely defeat the purpose of all those layers.
