Brie Apple Grilled Cheese (Printable)

Warm sourdough layered with Brie and crisp apple slices, grilled to golden perfection.

# What you'll need:

→ Bread and Cheese

01 - 4 slices sourdough bread
02 - 120 g (4 oz) Brie cheese, rind removed if desired, sliced

→ Fruits

03 - 1 small crisp apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and thinly sliced

→ Spreads and Fats

04 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

# Method:

01 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each sourdough slice.
02 - Place two buttered slices, buttered side down, on a work surface and layer half the Brie cheese on each.
03 - Distribute apple slices evenly over the Brie cheese on each sandwich base.
04 - Top apple slices with remaining Brie and cover with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
05 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Place sandwiches in skillet and cook 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
06 - Remove sandwiches from skillet, let rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve warm.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The Brie melts into a silky richness that tastes way more elegant than the effort it takes to make.
  • Those apple slices add a bright, crisp contrast that keeps each bite from feeling heavy, even with all that cheese.
  • It's ready in under 20 minutes but tastes like you actually tried, which is the kind of magic every home cook deserves.
02 -
  • Medium-low heat is not negotiable—too hot and your bread will char before the cheese even melts, leaving you with a crispy outside and a cold, cheesy inside.
  • Slicing your apple as thin as you can manage makes the difference between crisp pockets of fruit and thick, dense pieces that don't play well with the soft cheese.
03 -
  • Remove the Brie from the fridge 15 minutes before you start cooking—it melts more evenly and creates that silky texture you're after.
  • A nonstick skillet is your best friend here because you can cook these with minimal added fat and still get a gorgeous golden crust without any sticking drama.
